Journey UPDATE!!!!

Sunday, February 3, 2013

That is right. Update pics :) It has been 2 weeks from the last time I posted pics. After todays major run and family outing.... I just had to smile and be proud of myself!

As you have read, I have been a big girl for like 8 years now. As of recently, however, I have Decided to change all of that. So I started to work my bottom off and focus on me and making my life much better. Well after 2 weeks of hard working.... Here goes!

So what do you think? How do I look so far? In the pick, I was wearing 2 waist trimmers. More the sweatier I recon. :) Well here is after 2 weeks. Tell me if you notice the diference.

As a refresher, here is my starting pics!

Excersize Tip of the week!

I saw this in another blog a few weeks back so I figured I could try to do a fitness tip each week. As you all have read, I have been working out daily for about 3 weeks now. With exceptions of the 2 rest days I have had that have been extremely hard for me to do. After my super workouts these past 3 days, I have noticed something that I was like in shock to finally realize. If you work out before you are really awake, your body won't register it is tired till you have been at it for a bit.

This morning I got up and got dressed, Threw on some clothes and while still groggy, I took off on a run. I ran 2 whole blocks without having to stop. Much farther than what I could do before. The reason I had to stop wasn't cause I was tired of running, it was cause my lunges were on fire due to the cold. So i walked 2 more blocks then ran the home stretch back home which was 1/2 block.

All in I ran .5 miles this morning. I was super happy. I mean I could never have done that before and now I can. To add to it, I sucked it in and finally got the waist cincher on my waist and so I was running with that on. Had some good tunes playing and if it wasn't for my lungs being so on fire, I so would have gone a lot further. But this afternoon I am going back and running more :)

For an after run breakfast, I treated myself to a nice hot bowl of oatmeal. Yummy!!!!  Then added 4 frozen blueberries to it! MmmMmmmMMmmm! Now I am full of energy and ready for another full out work out!

The sad news!
Someone has been making international calls from my phone between 3-4 am every morning for 2 weeks now. NOW, I have a $500 phone bill I have to pay. They said if it wasn't paid by Monday, they are turning my net off. So I may be a little sporadic on my post till the 16th :( I will totally get caught up and will be able to go to a friends house and use her net to get online and keep you posted. I won't be able to get on much other but I could at least give updates on here and FB and Twitter. I am sorry guys, we are trying to prove it isn't us and like we told the Company, we opted out of even having access to make international calls so how come we are being charged for them when we are suppose to not even be able to make them let alone make multiple ones! I swear I have been trying to stay away from stress and this makes that much harder not to stress about!

EMPOWER Pilates Studio Review!!!!!

Saturday, February 2, 2013

Okay first off, I have to admit, I was terrified of this. I kept hearing that nasty voice in my head saying look now you will be in pain and you will give up. Well, the more I heard it, the more I aimed to prove it wrong. The first day I tried this, I had to force myself to stop cause I was actually having fun! I didn't want to stop but my body was telling me I had to. That night after my shower I went to lay in bed and that's when the soreness set in! Then that voice was like see told you. I didn't really care. I loved it!

The next day I had to literally pour myself out of bed cause I was sore. Did it stop me though... Oh NO! After eating breakfast, I caught myself reaching for it and sliding my feet into the hoops to do curls. Then laying down to do bicycles and leg kicks. After a few days of this, I noticed I wasn't as sore as I was before and the exercises were getting easier. So what did I do, I upped the stakes and doubled what I was doing and tossed in resistance Superman. WOW. Talking about hard. It was what I needed.
Before getting this, I had issues doing these exercises. It was so hard, that I avoided them. Now I love doing them. The people at EMPOWER did an awesome job with this. Even without the free workout DVD you get with this, It is still awesome. And the price is Wonderful! I mean you can't even go out to eat at a restaurant these days for the price of it!  It is awesome and I would really recommend this to all!

Angela Doles: Undergoing a fitness transformation
Sometimes enough is enough. You hit that wall where you just say, "It's time for things to change." And on January 16th, Angela Doles hit her wall. That was the day she contacted Girls Gone Sporty and said, "I need help losing weight. I don't know what else to do." Well sister, that's what we're here for!
While Girls Gone Sporty doesn't focus solely on weight loss, we do understand that to achieve a healthy, happy, active life, weight loss may be part of the picture. And, our goal as an organization is to give people the resources they need to enhance their lives in this way. So, when we received Angela's email, we rallied behind her — GGS Ambassadors sent her encouraging emails, a few brands offered to provide some amazing products (brands listed at the bottom of the page) to help get her started and we committed as a group to stand behind her and say, "You can do it!"
Donated productsDonated items
But we're not the heroes here. The hero is Angela herself! It takes incredible courage to ask for help and it takes incredible tenacity to react and respond the way she has. She has already signed up for her first 5k, she's blogging about her journey over at Aphalicious Bliss and she's asking questions, seeking out answers and owning the journey she has in front of her. This woman is a rock star!
She's so on fire for the road ahead that we wanted to bottle up her energy and figure out, "Why change, why now?" This is what she had to say:
Girls Gone Sporty (GGS): Can you tell me a little about your background with health and fitness?
Angela Doles (AD): When I was growing up I was always outside riding bikes and climbing trees. Then when I got into middle school, I joined the volleyball team. I had so much fun till my parents moved me to a new school and I wasn't good enough to join the high school team. So, I joined the tennis team. Much more fun than volleyball! I was doing band, tennis and working as a car hop at Sonic. Then everything fell apart. My dad got into a motorcycle wreck and I became responsible for taking care of my little brother who is seven years younger than me. Then the bad flashbacks of when I was a kid came back. Not good ones, either. So here I was, 16 years old, having to quit the tennis team, work two jobs and take care of my little brother. Then it just got worse in '04 when I married my husband. It got to the point that I couldn't leave the house at all.
GGS: Have you tried to make healthy changes in the past? What are some of the things that kept you from being successful?
AD: I have tried to lose weight lots of times. By working out and even taking diet pills and such like Phenteramine. I would lose the weight, but then after stopping, I would gain it all back. Working out never got far, as I lacked support from my spouse. I felt awful all the time and was majorly depressed and stressed.
GGS: You're so motivated and on top of things right now - what's different now? Why fight for health at this point in your life?
AD: What got me motivated to change and stay healthy is that I saw the doctor and he told me if I didn't change something, I would follow in my dad's footsteps and have a heart attack. I want to be here for a very long time with my three children.
GGS: What changes (if any) are most challenging?
AD: The changes I'm most struggling with are the at-home support and the knowledge about what changes are right and what I should stay away from. My parents were heavy and when my dad had his heart attack at 30, the only thing my mother changed about his diet was adding fish and ground turkey to the mix. Also the water intake! It is so hard to drink all the water my body needs. I think I lack the most in that department.
GGS: What changes are easier than you thought?
AD: The overall eating more fruits and veggies while cutting out the sodas and extra sugar. I switched to agave nectar and I have seen the difference.
GGS: How are you finding the motivation to keep going?
AD: The little things have been seeming to help. The emails and messages from awesome ladies in Girls Gone Sporty. My son, who is about to be four and weighs near 40 pounds. I  use him as my weight (I give him piggy back rides while I walk my 20 minutes) and I kind of bounce to the beat of the bunny hop dance while humming it and then skip high three times and go "dunn dunn dunn". He busts out laughing and says "Go mommy, go! Go mommy, go!" If he only knew he was helping me lose weight!
Angela DolesGGS: What's your fitness schedule look like right now?
AD: No matter what, Monday through Friday I walk 20 minutes to get my kids from school. Other than that, I either work out with the Wii or with YouTube with Julian Michaels and Extreme Makeover Home Edition and of course Carmin Electra's Strip Tease. Hey, it's actually fun!
GGS: Where'd you start, and what's your end goal? What are some mid-point goals you're setting up along the way?
AD: I started at 260. Not happy but it's true. I had a waist bigger than 60 inches and wearing a 26 pant. I am not happy at all about this. My end goal is to be in a size 7-9 and weigh 135-150. My mid point goal is to get under 200 pounds.
GGS: How are you planning to reward yourself for your accomplishments?
AD: I plan to reward myself by the time I get really close to my goal. I will have a few 5k's under my belt. Also, It would be a great reward to show my husband that after all these years I can look good and be worth more. That I can and will make a better life for me and my kids.

Today, about a week after first responding to our questions, Angela sent another awesome email. She reported, "The biggest thing for me is when I slid a size large Hanes shirt on, it not only fit, it was kinda loose! I am so happy right now! I accomplished so much yet so little, but I am still happy. Soon I hope to see the numbers on the scale sliding down as this weight finally says goodbye for good."
Well Angela, that weight will say goodbye for good! You're an inspiration already!

If you'd like to follow Angela's journey, check out her blog and like her Facebook page. And, be sure to check back here occasionally, too. She's thrilled to be sharing her journey with Girls Gone Sporty readers.

A big thanks!

Thank you to the companies and brands who have been generous enough to help Angela start her fitness transformation!

Going Viral! and a CHALLENGE!!!!

Friday, February 1, 2013

That is right, not only do I now have the blog, But I have a Facebook and a Twitter! My new Twitter is https://twitter.com/AphyBliss !! Yep, Now not only will I be blogging but I will be keeping everyone in track with both Twitter and Facebook!  I am excited to get this all set up so now no matter where I go, I will be held accountable for my weight loss journey!

So for my Daily configuring. Not what I was hopping for but shoot, I got to keep myself accountable. So here I go :)

                                Workout

                                  Food Intake

I know my sodium was way too high and my over all percentage was out of balance but I am trying :)
I know I need to play with it just a little to get it perfect so that is what I am going to work on. Tell me what you think!

CHALLENGE!

For every follow I get on my blog till March First, I will do 10 reps of a workout. Either sit ups, or jumping jacks, or even squats. Depending on what day it is which I will do a crunch, squat, jumping jack, ect. So like if I get 20 followers, I will do 20 reps. In addition, I will do Bonus days that I will double the work-out and do 40 instead of 20. :) What do you guys say? Who's in it to make me work for my Weight Loss?

(added bonus, on select days, you may even get video proof of my workout to show you guys I am doing what I Promised to do with a secret word stated during that day that you guys post for me to state so you know I am doing them when I say I am and not before :) )

Puttin On The Ritz

Yeah that is right! I just ran a 40 min free run then turned around and said, "oh I so can do more" and ran 20 more min! YAY I got good tunes going and loving every second of this :) The awesome thing about it is I was told last night while running, engage my abs. So I did and I feel the burn! In about 30 min, I may just jump up and do 20 more min :) Never know! For now though.... Let me get the Pilates Gym Out and rip up some abs :)

Health and Fitness!

As you all have noticed, I have turned over a new leaf and have started focusing on not only my health and fitness but my children's too.  I have had some issues getting up in the early morning to do my run but hey I am trying :)

I have been working out daily with the hard to do Rest day once a week. I mean who thought that a rest day would be so hard to do? Not as hard as eating enough calories I have to say. That has been my LIFE CHANGE FAIL!

I never really knew how much I was working out and not eating till I started tracking it. Boy was I surprised.  Form eating 700-900 calories a day and taking over 8000 steps a day. I was beyond shocked! I never knew that I did so much and yet so little. No wonder why my body was throwing a fit. I was working it so hard yet starving it to death. Not to mention the water intake! EKKK Major FAIL on my part their too.

I woke up this morning and literally peeled myself from the bed. I was so tired. Yet, as soon as my feet hit the floor, it was like a light bulb turned on and I was literally bouncing off the walls. Yes my core is hurting after Wed. and Yesterdays core workouts but Today I am focusing mainly on my core. Like trying to make sure I engage my core while I am running, and while doing everything I do today. Even now I am sitting in my rocking chair facing my desktop and engaging it while forcing myself to move. It also helps that I am like totally rocking out with Spotify ;)

Now for the fun part... THE FOOD!

Yesterday I did a lot better for myself. I ate my caloric intake and had over 150g of protein which was awesome. Until... I saw my sodium intake. I bombed my good meal lol. Then to add to all the panic... I went to fix me some breakfast. I am out of eggs, milk, any fresh veggies other than a bowl of raw spinach that was about 1-2 cups in amount! I started panicking. Like omg my weight loss :( I got to push through 7 days of trying to eat right in a house full of processed foods my hub loves to have for dinner. Yuck!

So now you guys get to watch me nit pick through everything to try to find the healthy in all of this CRAP! *giggles* got that from the twitter convo last night about core workouts!
CRAP Stands For
 C: Caffeine,
R: Refined foods,
A: Alcohol & Artificial sugars,
 P: Processed foods.

Avoid These at ALL COST! Definitely not good for any diet!
"Quoting Sarah Stanley with http://sarahstanleyinspired.com"

Crap is a dieters failure point! Too much CRAP, and all the hard work you have done will go down the drain. Don't get me wrong, I have read in a few places, it is ok to splurge every once in awhile to keep you from back sliding. Just like most anything, however, too much of anything isn't always a good thing.

So let me leave you guys thinking about this....
Would you rather eat foods that are healthy and that you body really needs and can use, or would you rather eat processed foods that have like bleach, wax, and even worse toxins in it that your body don't know how to process it so t stores as fat? Think about that before you pull into the drive thru at Burger King, White Castle, Whataburger, or even worse.... McDonalds! Oh don't even get me started with McDonalds..... That is a whole NEW blog post about that!

Core Day!

I was so tired after yesterdays workout, I kinda didn't wake up to do my morning run. SO today is a core day. I am gonna do at least one full workout to engage my abs and work the rest of my core. Here I come Pilates Port. Gym.  Time to ✂ out the fat :)

ACTIVE LOG

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Here goes my pedometer results. I borrowed this from a friend and omg I love it! Here is just a taste of what I have done today :)

So... What do you think :)

Workout Tip Starts Today!

That is right. I am starting today with 1 fitness tip a day for 30 days:)

Tip one: Awesome music!

You read that right. Put on some awesome music that has a beat to it and watch what happens. If it is a beat you like, you will catch yourself moving to the beat even while sitting. Guess what, your burning calories! Especially if you engage your abs as you are moving to the beat. I actually sit in a rocking chair and rock to the beat as I am listening to the beats. Today I have put together an awesome workout playlist to make you move in your seat. All of them are by women and are motivational for any situation you are in. From losing weight to personal issues. All will keep you moving and without even thinking about it, you will be moving and burning cals :)

I would recommend getting something like Spotify. It is free and lots of great music on it!

Great cd to get is 100 #1 Workout HITS! Vol.2

It has songs like:
  • Listen to your heart
  • Since you been gone
  • If I were a boy
  • Single Ladies
  • Fire Burning
And many many more!

Ugg blogger being a major pain!

Crazy Idea!

Ok guys I have an awesomely Awesome Idea! I am thinking of setting up a work out area where we all can swap work out clothes and other work out things like video's and such and give good tips on some awesome work outs clothes and such! What do you guys think? DO you think it will be a good idea? If so let me know and I will set up a forum for all of us to go to and say what we have to trade and what we need :) What a great way to help each other out!
